A 5,500 acre mountain paradise tucked gently into the alpine wilderness near the west entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park, SolVista is home to 33 family-friendly ski trails on two interconnected mountains with more than 40 kilometers of groomed nordic trails.
The SolVista ski area is comprised of two separate yet inter-connected mountains. East Mountain's terrain is primarily beginner and intermediate, while West Mountain's terrain is primarily intermediate and advanced with limited beginner access. A separate learn-to-ski park features a surface lift for beginners.
SCENIC TRAIN
The “Rio Grande Scenic Ski Train” is a unique way to start your mountain adventure day and an even better way to end it. Only a 2-hour ride from Denver, you’ll pass through 28 tunnels, including the Moffat tunnel – an engineering marvel at 6.2 miles long. It is the highest railroad tunnel in the US that cuts through the Continental Divide. These 57 miles of rail is the most scenic rails in the country.
The Rio Grande Scenic Ski train is a wonderful scenic trips that extends time with your family and friends without the stress of driving and it drops you off closer than any parking lot and is considered ski in and ski out. But remember, the ski train isn’t just for skiers; it’s a relaxing ride for singles, families, skiers, boarders, and non-skiers. It’s quality time together for the day or weekend without the white-knuckle commute. Once in Winter Park, you can enjoy a variety of activities including skiing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, ice-skating, tubing, snowcat tours, shopping, restaurants, and a free shuttle around town.
Train departs Denver from Union Station at 7:00am and arrives at Winter Park at 9:15. It departs Winter Park at 4:15pm and arrives at Denver at 6:30pm.
