Colorado Road Trips
Willow Creek Pass
Willow Creek Pass is a scenic Colorado mountain drive that is perfect for visitors staying in Grand County or Jackson County, Colorado. The pass straddles the Continental Divide in the Rabbit Ears Range and is easily accessible from both Grand County and Jackson County.
Willow Creek Pass takes drivers along the Continental Divide to an elevation of 9,683 feet. The two mountain ranges that surround Willow Creek Pass are much lower than other surrounding Colorado Mountain ranges. As a result, visitors are treated to speculator aspen groves, ancient oak trees and unusual rock formations that run along the river.
If you are feeling adventurous take a quick hike on the Willow Creek Pass Trailhead. The trailhead is located in a parking lot on the east side of Colorado Hwy 125, just about 150 yards south of Willow Creek Pass. This is also a great hike to do in the winter months - grab some snowshoes and head on up!
Direction to Willow Creek Pass: Drive through Granby on Hwy 40. At Windy Gap Reservoir, take Colorado Hwy 125 to the top of the pass, 21.5 miles. At the top of the pass you can turn around and head back to Hwy 40. However, four miles into your decent you can turn onto County Road 123 to Stillwater Pass for even more backcountry viewing and a few popular hiking trails. Trailheads begin in the Idleglenn Staging Area. County Road 123 is well marked but be aware that it is a rough drive.
