golfing

Little known fact: The effect of gravity diminishes as you gain altitude and at 8,000 feet above sea level, where Grand County sits, this can add up to a whopping 15% increase in the distance of your golf shots. Of course, that’s not the only reason to golf Grand County! With four world-class courses and more on the way, Grand County is quickly becoming a mountain golf paradise.

Headwaters's links-style golf course has something to offer everyone. Cut into the draw that runs through Granby Ranch, the front nine winds along the Fraser River. The golf course, with its inspiring views and western feel, reflects President & CEO Marise Cipriani’s love for nature and conservation, and her vision for Headwaters. Typical mountain golf courses are tight with trees on either side, but SolVista’s course is open with natural obstacles comprised of wetlands and native vegetation. Located along the Fraser River, the golf course will be a critical link for expanding the resort’s residential and recreation activities.

Treat yourself to 27 holes of Classic Mountain Golf on three distinct courses:  The Ranch, The Meadow and The Ridge. Pole Creek's design was conceived by Denis Griffiths, who incorporatedexisting lodgepole pine, valley meadows, sagebrush and a variety ofwater hazards including five lakes to create a diverse course appealingto a wide range of golfers.  The Meadow is a perfect blend of tree-lined and open holes that cross Pole Creek and two lakes several times. Three or four warm-up holes ease you into this course. Level lies are few.  The Ridge course, our new nine, opened August 2nd, 1999. TheRidge is carved out of the forest and is a spectacular complement tothe Meadow & Ranch. The serene setting with views that can only bedescribed as breathtaking, combined with only two holes where playerswill be able to see other golfers, guarantee the Ridge will be afavorite. The Ranch has a variety of terrain, with Pole Creek meanderingthrough the course. While some of the holes are tree-lined, others aresurrounded by natural grasses and sage. Being the most open nine atPole Creek, there are panoramic views of snow-capped peaks along thecontinental divide.
