The Communities of Grand County, Colorado:
Kremmling Colorado
Grand County, Colorado – If the hankerin' ever hits you to head back to the Wild West, Kremmling, Colorado is the place you'll want to visit.
Two hundred years ago, a hardy bunch of pioneers settled Kremmling despite harsh winters, hungry predators and endless hours of hard labor. In 1906, the Denver, Northwestern and Pacific railroads reached town, making access to the mountain town easier than ever. Today, the people who inhabit this classic Colorado town are much like their pioneering ancestors—a hard-working, spirited bunch that values family, friendship and wide-open, untrammeled spaces.
It's those sweeping vistas, magnificent mountains and abundant recreation opportunities that draw most folks to Kremmling these days, but the stops they make to re-supply or rest their eyes are high quality as well. Services and retail businesses include a pharmacy, meat market, convenience stores and sporting goods shops. Lodging options include B & Bs, bunkhouses, cabins, hotels, motels and RV parks and campgrounds. All the restaurants serve farmhouse-sized portions and the local coffee shop serves lattes, mochas and fresh baked pastries.
Outdoor enthusiasts find all sorts of old west adventures in Kremmling. From hunting and fishing on the trophy waters of the Colorado River to rounding up cattle at the Rusty Spur Ranch, this is a fine place to find your inner outdoorsman. If Nordic sports are more your style, try the varied terrain and uncrowded cross-country ski and snowshoe trails on Rabbit Ears Pass, Latigo Ranch and Gore Pass near town.
Year-round, Kremmling hosts a variety of unique events you definitely won't find in the city. During the winter, robust adventurers can compete in one of two ice fishing contests or a dog sled race. Come summer, motorsports enthusiasts enjoy the ATV Rodeo and Super Challenge as well as the Kremmling Rock Crawl and the Mud Bog 4x4 Tournament.
